Faith at Lawrence College
Lawrence College is home to students of multiple faiths, principally Muslim and Christian. The college has always sought to nurture the spiritual dimension of student life alongside the academic, sporting and artistic. Three dedicated places of worship serve the campus — two mosques and the College Chapel — ensuring all students can observe their faith within the college grounds. Religious education is woven into the academic timetable at all levels, and daily religious observance is a structured part of every Gallian's day.
Two College Mosques
Lawrence College has two mosques on campus serving the Muslim majority of the student body. The mosques are the focal point for Friday prayers, Zohar and Maghrib prayers, and all Islamic occasions throughout the year. Attendance at Zohar, Maghrib and Jumu'ah prayers is ensured for all Muslim students as part of the college's programme of spiritual development.
One of the mosques underwent major renovation in 2021. Each mosque is led by a dedicated Khatib who leads prayers and provides Islamic guidance to students throughout the term.

College Chapel
The College Chapel is one of the most historically significant buildings on the Lawrence College campus. Built in the Gothic Revival style during the British era, it serves the Christian community within the college and functions as a memorial to Old Gallians who gave their lives in service.
The chapel's interior features plaques commemorating Gallians who fell in both World Wars and in subsequent conflicts. Their names are inscribed for perpetuity. The chapel was restored between 2006 and 2007 — its stonework, stained glass and interior returned to their historical splendour — and was rededicated in a ceremony in 2007.

The Three Places of Worship
All three stand within the college grounds, so no Gallian has to leave the estate to observe his faith.
Interfaith Respect
Lawrence College has always maintained a tradition of interfaith respect and co-existence. Muslim and Christian students study, play and live together as Gallians — their shared identity as students of Lawrence College transcending religious difference. Both communities are given space and support to practise their faith, and religious tolerance is upheld as a core value.
The college calendar accommodates major religious observances for both communities, ensuring that students can mark their faith's most important occasions even while in the boarding school environment.
