The Premier Ceremony of the Gallian Year
The Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony is the most significant recognition event in the Lawrence College calendar. Held at the close of the academic year, it brings together students, parents, alumni, faculty and distinguished guests to celebrate the academic, sporting and character achievements of the year's outstanding Gallians.
The ceremony is rooted in the conviction that excellence — in whatever field it is achieved — deserves public recognition and celebration. A Gallian who wins the Victor Ludorum on Sports Day, earns his College Colours on the cricket field, or takes first position in the Board examinations deserves to receive his prize before his peers, his teachers and his family. That moment of recognition is, for many Gallians, among the defining memories of their time at the college.

The Programme
The Prize-Giving follows a formal programme that has evolved over generations but retains its ceremonial character:
- Guard of Honour & March Past — The Prefectorial Board and senior students form a guard of honour as the Guest of Honour arrives. A formal march past by the student body opens proceedings.
- Physical Training & Gymnastics Display — Students demonstrate the physical excellence developed through Lawrence College's rigorous PT programme — pyramids, drills and gymnastic routines performed before the assembled guests.
- Principal's Report — The Principal addresses parents, guests and students with a review of the year's academic and sporting achievements, challenges met, and the vision for the year ahead.
- Prize Distribution — Academic prizes, sporting colours, house trophies and special awards are presented by the Guest of Honour. Students receive their prizes individually before the assembled college.
- Guest of Honour's Address — The Guest of Honour addresses the assembled college — a speech that is often remembered long after the ceremony ends.
- College Song — The ceremony closes with the singing of the Lawrence College song in full voice by students, alumni and staff.
The Guest of Honour Tradition
Lawrence College's Guest of Honour tradition is one of its most distinctive features. Since the college's founding, distinguished guests — heads of state, military commanders, senior judges, university vice-chancellors and prominent alumni — have addressed assembled Gallians at the college's major ceremonies. This tradition connects each generation of Gallians to the broader life of the nation and reminds them of the standard of service to which they aspire.
Recent Guests of Honour have included senior Army officers, provincial governors, chief ministers and eminent public figures. The Guest of Honour is chosen to reflect the values that Lawrence College wishes to instil in its students — service, achievement, integrity and a life well lived in the service of Pakistan.

Attending as a Parent
The Prize-Giving Ceremony is one of the key occasions when parents are welcomed on campus at Lawrence College. Invitations are issued to parents of prize-winning students and to all parents through the annual calendar published in December. Parents attending are asked to:
- Confirm attendance in advance through the college office
- Arrive before the Guard of Honour begins — latecomers may not be seated after the ceremony has formally opened
- Dress formally — the Prize-Giving is a formal occasion in keeping with the college's traditions
- Refrain from mobile phone use during the ceremony — photography is permitted during prize distribution only
