Tutoring

Structured academic support designed to help every Gallian reach his full potential.

Academic Support at Lawrence College

Lawrence College believes that every Gallian is capable of academic success. Alongside the formal curriculum, the college provides individual and small-group tutoring to students who need additional support in specific subjects. This service operates under the Pastoral Care framework and is coordinated by the Director of Studies in consultation with House Tutors and subject teachers.

Tutoring at Lawrence College is not remedial — it is a tool for unlocking potential. Whether a student is struggling with a particular concept or is being stretched beyond the standard curriculum to prepare for scholarship examinations, the college's tutoring provision is designed to meet him where he is.

How Tutoring Works

Identification

Subject teachers and House Tutors monitor academic progress throughout the term. Students who would benefit from additional support are identified early — before difficulties become entrenched — and referred to the tutoring programme.

Scheduling

Tutoring sessions are scheduled around the normal timetable — typically during prep time or free periods — so that students do not miss regular lessons. Sessions are kept small to ensure focused, productive engagement.

Qualified Tutors

Tutoring is delivered by qualified subject teachers. In some cases, senior Gallians who have excelled in a particular subject are also involved in peer-tutoring under staff supervision — a practice that benefits both the tutor and the tutee.

Parental Communication

Parents are kept informed of their son's progress through the tutoring programme. The House Tutor serves as the primary point of contact and can arrange direct communication with subject teachers or the Director of Studies as required.

Tutoring is available across the full curriculum, with particular provision in subjects where students commonly encounter difficulty:
