Academic Leadership at Lawrence College
The Director of Studies holds one of the most important academic positions at Lawrence College. Reporting directly to the Principal, the Director of Studies is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving academic standards across all three schools — Junior, Preparatory and Senior. The role sits at the intersection of curriculum design, examination preparation, staff academic development and student achievement monitoring.
The Director of Studies works closely with the Heads of each school to ensure that the academic programme is coherent, rigorous and aligned with the very best educational practices. This includes oversight of the Cambridge International curriculum in the Senior School, the SSC and O-Level streams, and the foundational programmes of the Junior and Preparatory Schools.

Responsibilities of the Director of Studies
Curriculum Oversight
The Director reviews the curriculum across all three schools, ensures alignment with Cambridge, FBISE and BISE examination syllabi, and recommends changes or enrichments that reflect current academic best practice. Subject departments report through their Heads of School to the Director.
Examination Coordination
Coordinating internal and external examinations is a core function. The Director manages the timetabling and administration of monthly tests, terminal examinations, Cambridge O-Level and A-Level sessions, SSC and HSSC examinations, and ensures full compliance with all awarding body requirements.
Results Analysis
After each examination session, the Director leads a detailed analysis of results — subject by subject, year group by year group — to identify strengths, address weaknesses and set targets for improvement. This data-driven approach ensures that Lawrence College's examination performance remains among the best in Pakistan.
Staff Development
The Director identifies professional development needs among the teaching staff and arranges in-house training, workshops and external CPD opportunities. Particular attention is given to developing teachers' skills in Cambridge-certified teaching methodologies and examination marking.
Academic Reporting
Comprehensive academic reports are prepared for the Principal and Governing Body, covering examination results, curriculum developments, staffing and forward plans. These reports form the basis of strategic academic decision-making at the highest level of the college.
Tutoring Coordination
The Director of Studies oversees the college's individual and small-group tutoring programme, ensuring that students who need additional support receive it promptly and effectively. This includes monitoring the progress of students in the tutoring programme and communicating with parents as appropriate.

Cambridge O-Level
Cambridge International Examinations · Classes 9–10
The Cambridge O-Level stream is Lawrence College's flagship academic programme, offering internationally recognised qualifications in a full range of subjects. Results are benchmarked against students worldwide and open doors to universities in Pakistan, the UK and globally.
Secondary School Certificate
BISE Rawalpindi · Classes 9–10
The SSC stream prepares students for the national Secondary School Certificate examinations conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rawalpindi. Lawrence College consistently achieves results well above the national average in the SSC stream.
Cambridge A-Level / HSSC
Cambridge International / FBISE · Classes 11–12
At the post-O-Level stage, students may continue in the Cambridge A-Level stream or the HSSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate) programme. Both streams prepare Gallians for university admission in Pakistan and abroad.
