A Gift from a Gallian to Generations of Gallians

Some gifts transcend generations, becoming a lasting legacy of love, gratitude, and commitment. The inauguration of the new all-weather swimming pool at Lawrence College is one such gift.

Mr. Ikram-ul-Majeed Sehgal is a name synonymous with unwavering commitment and lifelong support for Lawrence College. In honour of his late father, he generously funded the construction of this state-of-the-art swimming pool. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on 25 October 2024, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey.

Through the tireless efforts of his dedicated team, this vision was transformed into reality. 18 July 2026 became a historic day as the inauguration of this magnificent facility coincided with Mr. Sehgal’s 80th birthday, making the occasion even more memorable.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Sehgal’s family, friends, Old Gallians, and members of the Lawrence College community. The event included the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a special dua, and heartfelt tributes acknowledging Mr. Sehgal’s extraordinary generosity and his enduring dedication to his alma mater.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sehgal shared that the dream of establishing a swimming pool at Lawrence College had been with him since his days at the Pakistan Military Academy. It was there that he realised the importance of having such a facility at the College, and he remained committed to turning that vision into reality.

Standing at an altitude of 6,395 feet, this is Pakistan’s only all-weather swimming pool of its kind and is expected to become a premier venue for swimming training and competitions in the future.

Principal Brig. Jawad Ahmad Zaka, SI(M) (Retd) expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Sehgal for his exceptional generosity, unwavering support, and enduring affection for Lawrence College. He remarked that this noble contribution is a lasting Sadaqah-e-Jariyah for Mr. Sehgal’s parents and a priceless legacy that will continue to benefit generations of Gallians and the wider community.

Lawrence College proudly celebrates this extraordinary milestone and extends its deepest appreciation to Mr. Ikram-ul-Majeed Sehgal for a gift that will inspire, nurture, and serve generations of Gallians for years to come.
