Lawrence College successfully hosted Art Extravaganza 2026, a vibrant celebration of creativity under the theme “Together for Peace – Hand in Hand.” The event highlighted the institution’s commitment to fostering artistic expression alongside values of unity, harmony, and mutual respect.

Since its inception in 2016, Art Extravaganza has evolved into a prestigious inter-school platform. This year, students from various schools showcased their talents across nine categories of performing and visual arts, reflecting powerful messages of peace, empathy, and collaboration.

A distinguished panel of judges awarded the Art Extravaganza Shield 2026 to Army Public School, Cliffden Camp, Murree, for their outstanding performance.

The event was live-streamed, extending its reach beyond the campus. Its success was driven by the dedicated efforts of faculty and staff, with special recognition for teachers and announcers who ensured smooth execution.

The occasion was graced by Mrs. General Zarar Mahmood as Chief Guest, along with Guests of Honour, Mrs. Brig. Ahmed Nawaz and Mrs. Col. Jamil Yousaf Malik.

In his concluding remarks, Brig. Jawad Ahmed Zaka, SI(M) (Retd.), Principal of Lawrence College, praised the students’ creativity and the teachers’ dedication in nurturing confident and expressive individuals.

Prep School Celebrates Honour Day

The Prep School held its Honour Day Programme on 21 April 2026, at Hamid Hall. The event featured recitation, translation, speeches on honour and integrity, and a presentation by the Headmaster highlighting honour purchase system, lock-free cupboards and open libraries to foster trust, integrity and responsibility.
In his address, the Principal Lawrence College, Brig Jawad Ahmed Zaka (Retd) SI(M), appreciated the honour system and stressed that integrity must go beyond awards, reflected in thoughts and actions throughout life.
The event reaffirmed the School’s focus on character building and holistic development.

Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane Visits Lawrence College

Lawrence College was pleased to welcome H.E. Timothy Kane, Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Appointed in 2025, Mr. Kane is Australia’s top diplomat in Pakistan and visited the campus to learn more about the College’s heritage and academic life.

During his visit, the High Commissioner met with Principal Brig Jawad Ahmad Zaka (Retd) SI(M) in his office. He was given an overview of the College’s history, academic programs, and co-curricular traditions. They also discussed student admissions and potential opportunities for collaboration with Australian institutions.

Mr. Kane’s tour included laying a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada in tribute to the College’s martyrs. He also visited the College Church, Junior School, Library, and Science Block, where he met faculty members and saw the facilities firsthand.

The visit highlights Lawrence College’s focus on building international connections and giving students wider global exposure. The College looks forward to developing academic and cultural ties with the Australian High Commission.

Honoured to host exceptionally distinguished experts from Sanober Institute

Lawrence College hosted an interactive session with a distinguished panel from the Sanober Institute on Thursday, April 16, 2026. The visiting speakers addressed students on some of the most pressing challenges facing today’s youth and shared practical guidance for personal, academic, and professional growth.

The panel featured Mr. Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan; Admiral Hasham Bin Siddique, former Vice Chief of Naval Staff; Syed Kaleem Imam, former Inspector General of Police Islamabad; Ms. Naghmana Hashmi, former Ambassador of Pakistan to the European Union and China; Dr. Qamar Cheema, eminent academic and policy expert; and Air Marshal Saeed Muhammad Khan, former Vice Chief of the Air Staff, who also moderated the session.

Speaking to a packed auditorium, the panel focused on four major themes affecting young people today: the vulnerable use of social media, with particular reference to digital risks, privacy concerns, and the harmful effects of excessive screen time on mental health; drug addiction awareness, including early warning signs, peer pressure, and ways to seek help; the value of hard work, highlighting discipline, consistency, and perseverance as the foundation of meaningful success; and the importance of communication skills, especially English, as an essential tool for higher education, leadership, and career advancement.

Drawing upon their rich experience in diplomacy, defence, governance and academia, the speakers encouraged students to remain focused, disciplined, and aware of the challenges of the modern world. They stressed that young people must develop clarity of purpose, strength of character, and the confidence to communicate effectively in order to contribute positively to society and the nation. One of the speakers advised students to “aim high and stay in tune with yourself,” reminding them that self-awareness is as important as ambition.

The session was followed by an engaging question-and-answer segment in which Lawrence College students asked thoughtful and relevant questions on coping with online negativity, balancing academics with social media, resisting negative peer influence, and improving spoken English. The panelists responded with practical examples and actionable advice, making the interaction both enlightening and inspiring.

International Education Expo 2026 at Lawrence College

Lawrence College hosted the International Education Expo 2026, bringing together representatives from more than 25 international institutions across 15 destinations. Students were guided on academic programs, admission procedures, and scholarship opportunities.

Around 360 students including participants from Murree schools attended the event along with interested families from surrounding areas.

Such initiatives help students explore global pathways, align their passions with career goals, and prepare for a successful future.

Welcome Party - Class VIII

On April 10, 2026, Class VIII students were warmly welcomed to the Senior School in a simple yet memorable ceremony. The event was attended by the Principal, heads of different schools, faculty members, and prefects, making the occasion special for the newcomers.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Abu Bakar Usman from Wright House, followed by its translation by Muhammad Maaz from Peake House.

In his welcome speech, Head Boy Ajlan Abbas Mir advised the students to focus on their studies and use their time wisely. He also assured them that seniors would always be there to guide and support them, so they should not worry about settling into the new environment.

Malik Arbaz Ahmed from Walker House and Muhammad Sudais from Wightwick House shared their experiences of joining Senior School. They spoke about the friendly and caring environment, where teachers guide students like parents and seniors treat juniors with kindness, helping them feel comfortable.

The Principal also addressed the students and welcomed them warmly. He encouraged them to become independent, face challenges with confidence, and stay focused on their goals.

At the end of the ceremony, tea was served to the students and faculty, giving everyone a chance to relax and interact. It was a pleasant and welcoming start to their journey in Senior School.

Opening Doors to Global Learning

Studying abroad is a dream for many young people today, but choosing the right destination, field of study, and understanding its long-term value remain important questions.

To support students in making informed decisions, Lawrence College continues to provide meaningful guidance and exposure. In this regard, Maj Gen (Retd) Shaukat Iqbal, CEO P2GS and his team, was invited to brief students on educational opportunities and future prospects in Germany and other European countries. The session generated great interest among students.

SMI Commandant Brig Aamir Inayat (Retd) also attended the briefing along with his officers. At the end, Principal Brig Jawad Ahmad Zaka (Retd) (SI(M)) thanked Maj Gen Shaukat Iqbal (Retd) for his energy and dedication in guiding the students. He emphasized that students should plan their future with a focus on serving the community.

Embracing New Beginnings - Welcome Party 2026 at Prep School

On Thursday, 2 April 2026, the Prep School organized a graceful Welcome Party 2026 to warmly receive new students and those promoted from the Junior School. The event was held in a pleasant and lively atmosphere and was graced by the Principal, Brigadier Jawad Ahmed Zaka, SI (M).

The programme was conducted by Azhar Jan, who managed the proceedings with confidence. It began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mubashir Sher, followed by its translation by Mohib Ahmed, creating a meaningful start.

M. Junaid delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the values and traditions of the institution. Abdul Hadi, representing the newcomers, shared his feelings of gratitude and excitement. A heartfelt welcome poem by Moin Abdul Aziz added beauty to the occasion.

The Principal appreciated the well-organized event, praised the students’ confidence, and encouraged them to work hard and uphold strong values. Tokens were also distributed among the students.

The ceremony concluded with refreshments, leaving a happy and memorable impression on all.

New Beginnings, Heartfelt Welcomes, and Friendships Destined to Last a Lifetime

A delightful atmosphere filled with joy, warmth, and camaraderie marked the Junior School Welcome Party held on 1st April 2026. Due to inclement weather, the event was held in the dining hall, creating a cozy and welcoming setting for all attendees. The celebration marked the arrival of new students, offering them a heartfelt introduction to their new academic home and ensuring they felt valued from the very first day.

The occasion was honoured by the presence of the Principal, Brig. Jawad Ahmed Zaka, SI(M) (Retd.), who graced the event as the Chief Guest and added significance to this memorable gathering.

The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Nawab Ali, followed by its English translation presented by Muhammad Zohaib Boghio. Both students carried out their respective roles with dignity and reverence, setting a respectful tone for the event.

The ceremony was confidently hosted by Mian Haroon Shah, Araiz, and Arbab Faiz Ullah, whose composure and clarity kept the audience engaged throughout. A soulful Hamd, beautifully rendered by Hussain Abbasi, captivated the audience and added a spiritual touch to the occasion.

Ahmed Nazar delivered an inspiring welcome address, reassuring the newcomers that they were warmly embraced by their seniors and encouraging them to build strong bonds and make the most of their journey at LCGG.

Adding vibrancy to the program, the boys first performed an energetic dance, followed by a melodious welcome song presented by the Junior School Choir. Class-wise games further enhanced the excitement, promoting teamwork, interaction, and a sense of belonging among the students.

Muhammad Abdul Ahad expressed gratitude on behalf of the new students through a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the warmth and encouragement extended to them.

The Principal added an extra touch of joy by distributing goody packs among the newcomers, leaving them with smiles and a strong sense of belonging.

During his closing remarks, Brig. Jawad Ahmed Zaka, SI(M) (Retd.), warmly welcomed the students into the LCGG family and encouraged them to embrace this new chapter with confidence and enthusiasm. He reminded them that the institution is not just a place of learning, but a second home where friendships are nurtured and character is shaped. Prep School Trip to Wildlife Park Bansara Gali

The young Gallians of Prep School enjoyed a short trip to the Wildlife Park, Bansara Gali, on Sunday, 29 March 2026, accompanied by the staff.

The post-lunch excursion was a refreshing break, with students exploring the park’s scenic surroundings. Though the park is currently under construction, the students had a fun-filled time enjoying the outdoors and learning about nature conservation. The staff ensured a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Blessed Khatam ul Qur’an Ceremony at Senior School

“This is a book We have sent down to you, so that you may deliver the people, with the will of their Lord, out of all sorts of darkness into the light, leading them to the path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy”. (14:1)

Guidance of humanity being the foremost objective of the Holy Qur’an’ has been described in the Holy Quran itself. By the Grace of Almighty Allah, regular observing of Taravih prayer culminated on 24th of Ramadan (13th March, Friday). A simple and graceful ceremony followed by concluding prayer was held in the senior school mosque. Throughout the holy month of Ramadan, Taravih prayer was led by Mr Atta Ur Rehman Khateeb and Hafiz Abdullah (Inter student, Wright House) The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Sudais Adil and translation by Ahsen Javiad (Inter students). Soulful Naat was recited by Hafiz Muhammad Hashim (SCF). Ajlan Abbas, the Head Boy, was the moderator of the event. The Principal Brig. Jawad A. Zaka addressed the spiritual gathering and highlighted the significance of the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and their practical application in our lives. He also appreciated the devotion of the students in the holy month of Ramadan during the Taravih ritual. The ceremony concluded with earnest prayers for Allah’s blessings. The gathering prayed to the Lord for worldly as well as eternal bounties for the country and Muslim Ummah.

Gallians Continue Their Tradition of Supporting Lawrence College Junior Staff

Lawrence College alumni continue to take pride in supporting their alma mater in many meaningful ways. In the same spirit, the Community of Gallians has, for the past several years, come forward annually to collaborate and contribute generously for the welfare of the junior staff of Lawrence College.

This year as well, the alumni collectively contributed Rs. 17,60,000, reflecting their continued commitment and care for the Lawrence College community.

Historic Milestone for Lawrence College Ghora Gali

12 February 2026 marked a significant step forward for Lawrence College Ghora Gali – LCGG as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Lewis School of English, UK.

The partnership will promote teacher training in the UK and Pakistan, student exchange programs, cultural activities, and summer & winter camps for students in the UK, opening new global opportunities for the college community.

The MoU was signed by Principal LCGG, Brigadier Jawad Ahmad Zaka, SI(M), and the Director of Lewis School of English, UK Mr. Alistair Walker marking the beginning of a promising collaboration for future academic ventures.

Flight from History to Innovation - A Historic International Tour

Lawrence College proudly marked a breakthrough moment with its first-ever international educational tour to the UK and Türkiye, headed by the Principal along with 4 faculty members and 51 students (Class 7-12).

From 1st to 16th February, students attended the Winter Language Program at Lewis School of English, enhancing their English communication skills and confidence, while teachers participated in a professional training session. The group stayed at the residences of the University of Winchester.

Educational visits included London, Oxford, Portsmouth, and Southampton.

A guided tour of the Palace of Westminster (British Parliament) was a wonderful and inspiring experience, reflecting historic traditions and strong democratic systems. The visit to the High Commission of Pakistan in London was equally enriching, giving students valuable insight into diplomacy and international relations.

A landmark highlight of the tour was the signing of an MOU with Lewis School of English, opening new avenues for future collaboration in student exchange and teacher training programs – a truly historic milestone for the institution.

On their return, the group explored Türkiye’s rich heritage, visiting Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace Museum, and Eyup Sultan Mosque, observing historical treasures and sacred relics.

This journey was more than travel – it was experiential learning that broadened horizons, strengthened confidence, and inspired young minds. With this successful initiative, Lawrence College looks forward to achieving many more milestones and laurels on the global stage in the years ahead.

Strengthening Teaching & Learning Through Professional Development

As part of its ongoing commitment to professional growth, Lawrence College ensures that its educators actively engage in meaningful training opportunities. On 23–24 January 2026, the Director of Studies and three faculty members participated in a two-day conference on “Behaviour for Learning” held at Aitchison College.

The conference focused on student behaviour and its influence on learning, understanding the needs of Generation Z and Alpha learners, effective engagement strategies, and managing classrooms with a firm yet empathetic approach. Education leaders from leading boarding institutions, including Lawrence College, Aitchison College, and Hasan Abdal, shared perspectives on behaviour management and student development within boarding environments.

Notable educationists such as Dr. Shazia Hamayun, Ms. Tina Hamid, Dr. Sabiha, Dr. Pervaiz Hoodbhoy, Dr. Mariam Chughtai, Maleeha Khawaja, Dr. Zareen and Nadia Jameel Hashmi contributed valuable insights based on their professional experiences.
