Farewell Dinner in Honour of Inter 20
Arranging farewell in honour of outgoing classes is one of the beautiful traditions of Lawrence College. Last year, due to Covid-19 pandemic, many functions couldn’t be held and the farewell in honour of Inter 20 was one of them. Finding a space now, the management decided to arrange the farewell dinner which was held on 11th of September, 2021. Brig. (Retd) Mujahid Alam, Principal Lawrence College, was the chief guest on the occasion. The alumni of Intermediate 20 had been specially invited to attend the dinner and receive the traditional souvenirs.
Korush Ahmad, Deputy Head Boy of the College, conducted the function. In his opening note, he welcomed all the guests, including Inter 20, who were the special guests, to the farewell dinner. He further said that they were fortunate enough to have a forward-looking personality like Brig (Retd) Mujahid Alam as their Principal who worked day and night in an effort to raise the standards of the institution. The function started with recitation from the Holy Quran and its translation by Hassan Afridi from Class VIII and Ahsen Chatta from Class VIII respectively.
After the recitation, Noraiz Masood, Head Boy of the College, shared his views. He said that presence of Inter 20 had made the day memorable for them. He further said that Inter 20 had been a source of great learning for them. He thanked the Principal for arranging the farewell for Inter 20. He also thanked the Principal for all those intiatives that he had taken for better grooming of students and for tremendous development in the infrastructure of the College.
After speech by the Head Boy, Ahmed Sohail (Head Boy for the year 2020) expressed his feelings on behalf of Inter 20. At the outset, he requested the audience to observe one minute silence in memory of their beloved teacher Mr. Shafiq Imran who died this year. He appreciated the senior College management for looking after the family of Late Mr. Shafiq Imran so well. He also thanked the College management for arranging the farewell. He commended the contribution of the College staff in their grooming and said that they owed their success to their alma mater.
Intermediate 2020 students were awarded shields as a token of memory. On special instructions of the Principal, the students were also presented translation of Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Naas with best wishes and prayers for their protection and success.
Then Principal, in his speech, welcomed the students of Inter 20 who were the special guests that day. He appreciated the respect and regard expressed by the former Head Boy in love of their late physics teacher Mr. Shafiq Imran. He said that looking after the family of Mr. Shafiq Imran was no favour but was an obligation fulfilled. Recalling the contribution of Inter 20, the Principal remarked that the class had been one of the best classes that passed out from LCGG. He told them that it was their own College and they could visit it whenever they desire. He expressed his hope that they would give their best to their nation and would bring a good name to the College and their nation ultimately. The Principal thanked the Vice Principal, catering and admin staff for arranging a splendid dinner.
Defence Day, 2021
Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated at Lawrence with traditional spirit and enthusiasm. Students and faculty of the three schools assembled at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada in the morning of 6th of September. Principal LCGG was the chief guest. He, accompanied by the Head Boy of the College, on his own behalf, on behalf of the faculty, Gallians and old Gallians, laid wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada. Naara-e-Pakistan was raised as an expression of love for our sweet homeland. After the wreath-laying, the function started with recitation from the Holy Quran by Hafiz Hassan from Class XI and translation by Abdul Hadi from Class XI. The ceremony was conducted by Deputy Head Boy, Korush Ahmed Bangash.
The Principal, in his speech paid tribute to the martyrs, whether they were army personnel, civilians or policemen, who laid their lives in defence of their motherland. He urged the gathering to observe one minute’s silence in the honour of Shuhada. He said, “We should never ever forget their sacrifices; their ultimate sacrifice that they gave for their motherland. This is the day of remembrance as well as to renew our pledge to our sacred motherland, Pakistan. Napoleon had said long time back that the boundaries of a nation’s greatness are marked by the graves of its martyrs and soldiers. We must remember that what we are today, our safety and protection is because of the sacrifices of these brave Shuhada. Great and living nations celebrate these days to renew their pledge and to have the introspection that they can identify what their weaknesses are; wherever we have gone wrong, we can correct ourselves. We pay tribute to all brave Gallians also who laid their lives, irrespective of their caste, region or religion. I urge the young Gallians to stop at Yadgar-e-Shuhada whenever you pass by that area and think of the great sacrifices of these Shuhada. We also pay tribute to great Kashmiri leader, Syed Ali Gilani, who spent his life for freedom of Kashmir and in love of Pakistan. We also acknowledge the contribution and sacrifices of the people of occupied Kashmir.”
Du’a for the protection and prosperity of Pakistan was offered by Hafiz Atta-ur-Rehman, Khateeb Senior School Mosque. The ceremony concluded with national anthem.
Investiture Ceremony, 2021
In a simple and dignified ceremony, the Prefectorial Board 2021-22 took oath on 4th of September, 2021. Like every year, the announcement of the Prefectorial Board remained an exciting and most awaited activity of the Senior School .The prefects were selected through proper screening and evaluation of the candidates’ academic records, performance in co-curricular activities and most important, their conduct followed by personal interviews with the Principal.
The investiture ceremony was held in Hamid Hall. The ceremony started with recitation from the Holy Quran by Mir Talha Shoaib from Class XI and translation by Abdul Rahim Goraya from Class XI. The ceremony was conducted by Bahadur Ali Khan from Class XI. After the recitation, the Vice Principal announced the Prefectorial Board. The oath of the Head Boy was administered by the Vice Principal. The Head Boy administered oath to the Deputy Head Boy and prefects.

The Principal, at the very outset of his address, congratulated the new prefectorial board on assuming their new responsibilities. After the complementary remarks, the principal talked about the importance of displaying a very nice and appropriate conduct while dealing with the women. Quoting some unfortunate incidents of harassment of women in different cities of Pakistan in the recent past, he advised them to always behave in a very decent and courteous manner with the women as our religion also teaches us so. He advised the students to have a very strong character. He told them that they need to take care of their self-esteem and should respect others. The Principal also emphasized that the students need to improve their communication skills, particularly their proficiency in spoken English. He made it clear that the stress upon learning English has not been because of any love for the language but because it is need of the hour.
In the end, the Principal congratulated the Prefectorial Board in their new responsibility. He appreciated the organizers for holding the function in a simple but dignified manner.
Independence Day, 2021
Prep School Observes Independence Day with National Spirit
Independence Day-2021 was celebrated by the young Gallians of Prep School on 14 August with national zeal and zest. Mr. Imtiaz Akhtar Ranjha, Headmaster Prep School, was the chief guest. The ceremony was held in Prep School TV Hall.
The ceremony started with the beatific verses of the Holy Qur’an and their translation by Momin Savul and Dawood Farooq of Class-7 respectively. Tahami Taimour made a moving speech on ‘Pakistan Movement and our Responsibilities’. After this, a milli naghma was presented by a choir of ten Gallians supported by Mr Imran Suleman – the music teacher.
Saad Musa of Class-7 delivered his speech in Urdu. His speech filled the audience with patriotic feelings. A documentary about our sweet homeland Pakistan was presented by Mr. Waqas Nawaz—Lecturer in Social Studies. Rafay Naeem of Class-7 was the stage secretary and he conducted the whole programme in an excellent way.
Resident Medical Officer, Dr. Qamar Zaman, talked about the very important and sensitive topic of ‘Prevention from Smoking and Drugs.’ With the help of a presentation, lecture and question-answer session, he made the sitting participatory, interesting and result-orienting.
Mr. Imtiaz Akhtar Ranjha highly appreciated different segments of the function. At the end, the cakes were cut in the dining hall by the Headmaster and the housemasters. Gallians enjoyed a sumptuous tea break. Besides this, the staff and boys planted trees to make 75th Independence Day more productive and memorable.
Plant a tree, Plant a new life
Trees are hardihood to the environment. They provide living being with fresh air to breathe, a habitat for birds and animals. They also provide wood for various purposes, along with many medicinal and spiritual properties. Tree plantation is vital to increase the green cover. Trees control the changes in climate. Without planting trees, land would turn into desert. They regulate the temperature by keeping it cooler and maintain humidity. Planting trees ensure that the ecological balance is maintained.
Small steps in the right direction can turn out to be the biggest step of your life. Students of Junior School know the significance of tree plantation in the current age of climate change and global warming. It is essential to conserve greenery around them in planned manner. They planted the sapling under the guidance of their Housemistresses and Asst. Housemistresses. Headmistress Junior School, Mrs. Naheed Nadeem emphasized on the importance of tree plantation to the young Gallians and also pinpointed significance of promoting a forestation to maintain the ecological balance and ensure harmony in our biodiversity.
August 14; Stands For Triumph Of An Ideal
Nations are like phoenix rising through depths of inferno. Nations are surely born through sweat, blood and utmost diligence of few to provide an abode for the future generations with hope for a garnish future where an egalitarian system may reign and flourish.
On 14th August, 1947 Pakistan came into existence through dynamism, assiduousness and blood of our forefathers in the face of existential oppression, barbarism and subjugation.
To commend, appreciate and applaud the sacrifices put forwarded by our predecessors and national heroes, young Gallians of Junior School celebrated this magnanimous event, Independence Day, with utmost zeal and zest. Junior school students earnestly contributed to make the occasion joyous, eventful and breathtakingly memorable through their patriotic speeches, national songs and nationalistic hymns. Furthermore, Junior School was decorated in all green and white to inculcate the sense of national integrity and harmony among the students.
Finally, the occasion was marked and closed through the vociferous speech of Headmistress Mrs. Naheed Nadeem who didn’t leave a single stone unturned through her praises and commendable words on the sacrifices laid down by our ancestors and along with futuristic potential of our youth, demography and topography. She finished her speech with a lot of focus on the need for national integration for solid foundation and consolidated growth of our beloved Pakistan.
All the houses hosted celebratory feast along with cutting of independence day cakes, to instill sense of nationalism documentary movies were played to highlight the heroism and struggle of our freedom fighters.
Senior School Commemorates Abdul Sattar Edhi
Special house assemblies were organized in Senior School on July 15, 2021 to commemorate the services of great Abdul Sattar Edhi. Abdul Sattar Edhi is known to be among the great philanthropists of the time who spent his whole life in serving the needy and distressed. He always preached unity and was a strong opponent of religious or social discrimination. His services were not limited to any particular community and did everything possible even for comfort of the animals and birds. Each house conducted the assembly at its particular venue where the students and teachers talked about unmatched contribution of Mr. Edhi and his great spouse Bilquis Edhi.

The students and teachers highlighted the important aspects of the life of Abdul Sattar Edhi and the services rendered by Edhi Foundation. They advised the students to actively participate in different welfare activities as our religion teaches us to serve humanity without any discrimination or prejudice. Serving humanity should be the top priority in the life of a Muslim as that is the most important source of seeking the pleasure of Allah Almighty as Allah loves those who love their fellow beings.
Farewell Dinner in Honour of Intermediate and Senior Cambridge 21
Farewell, more than saying goodbye, is a time to encourage and give your best wishes to near and dear ones and is an opportunity to express your emotions. With the same spirit, a farewell dinner was held on 13th of July, 2021 in honour of the Intermediate and Senior Cambridge 2021. Brig. (Retd) Mujahid Alam, Principal Lawrence College, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Korush Ahmad from Class XI conducted the function in an extremely efficient manner. In his opening note, he welcomed all the guests to the farewell dinner. The function started with recitation from the Holy Quran and its translation by Hafiz Muhammad Subhan from Class XII and Samiullah Ahtsham from Class XI respectively. After the recitation, Noraiz Masood from Class XI, in his farewell note, expressed his views and counted the memories they had attached with the outgoing Intermediate class. He said they were a source of motivation and inspiration for them and will be remembered forever as part of LCGG.
The Head Boy, Hassan Yar Mohal, shared his feelings on the occasion. He talked of those who contributed to their grooming and training including the support staff, teachers, housemasters, the Vice Principal and the Principal. He said that without efforts and dedication of all these people, they would not have been what they are today. He advised his juniors to display exemplary conduct.

He expressed his hope that they are going to play their positive role in the society as responsible citizens. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the admin and catering staff in organizing the function.
Pakistan Day, 2021
Lawrence College observed 81st Pakistan Day with national zeal and zest. Young Gallians participated in House-wise functions with the spirit of patriotism. A central ceremony could not be held because of Covid-19, therefore the students of all the houses of the three schools (Peake, Walker, Wightwick and Wright) observed Pakistan Day in their respective houses.
Young Gallians shared their thoughts on Pakistan Resolution, its importance and our responsibilities in the 21st Century. The boys paid homage to the unbeaten services of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Chaudhry Rehmat Ali, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Liaquat Ali Khan, Mohtarama Fatima Jinnah and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah including others who struggled during the formative phase. Without their untiring efforts, the making of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Sub-Continent would not have been possible. The celebrations included recitation from the Holy Quran with translation, speeches, documentaries, videos, national songs and national anthem that enriched the beauty of the day.
Principal, Brigadier Mujahid Alam (Retd), highly appreciated the staff and students for celebrating Pakistan Day in such a dignified manner. He particularly expressed his pleasure on participation of a large number of students in these house-wise functions.
